TONERIUM...Soundscape that spells on "Water"

This album was inspired by my sound installation live "Surround Cruise Aquarium by sound Funriture" which used the entire aquarium held in 2014 and gained popularity.

I was Inspired from "water" ...that liquidity, continuity, eternity, floating feeling, color, landscape.
I converted these impressions as a deeply supple one musical scape in delicately.

A sound that releases from gravity and carries the experience that drifts in the sound ocean to time and space.
Ensemble that envelops 360 degree space wraps your day, to nostalgic unknown world.

This album will guide you to a sense like a fish swimming in water all the way.
In a dazzling light, like a piece of wood drifting on the surface of the water.

I got this new score from Mr. Fujieda during the ambient outdoor event Camp Off-Tone's appearance and listened to the returning mountain path just before I knew the theme and concept inside the car I came home.
Although it was return of off-tone which experienced enough ambient, I got surprised and stimulated by the contents that drowsiness and exhaustion also blows away, and while driving, I uttered a word alone and repeatedly as a word I finished the mountain path from the campsite of Kofu which was the venue and headed for the highway.
The title song "TONERIUM" of this album where healing and exquisite stimulation are united is a spectacular beauty and, in contrast, a heavy bass loop of a string that continues endlessly from the head, this title song which extends over 24 minutes is exactly the universe .
The sound image of comfortable gagaku from the middle stage to the latter half and collaboration of water itself which is also the theme which became knowing later will develop. Then the string instrument will be futuristic toward the last and the curtain will close. The remaining four songs are automatically pulled into the world of fantasy automatically as it is.
Please experience everything intelligent ambient.

There is "furniture music" that was proposed by French composer Eric Satie.
Like furniture, there are songs written aiming at music that does not interfere with everyday life even there, but consciously heard.
But the audience showed interest in these songs, stopped talking and listened to the songs.
I remember such an episode.
The music of Sound Furniture is also gentle like BGM,
There is always the ability to attract the consciousness of the audience.
TONERIUM of this work is a sound scape that spells "water" as the theme,
It creates a shaking scenery and awakens the former memory.
This work that penetrates the thorough world sense throughout the whole story,
It drives us to a different dimension of fertile water.

Sound Furniture has been collaborating with us three times at Yoga Under The Sky, opening of the music event "Sunset Lounge" held in Enoshima every year.
Every time at exquisite timing, exquisite sounds are played, and the body and mind naturally open to the senses naturally to the vibrant sensibility and the air feeling that delivers the surrounding space from everyday to fine quality.
With open air yoga held the other day, I knew that the new score was not a subject of water, I was in a space above the lawn with a perfect blue sky, , I felt like I was playing with water all the time.
It seems that you are looking at the fishing boats as if you are looking up at the water surface glancing from the bottom of the water, or if you notice it is on the shore, you feel the surging waves comfortably with the whole body.
Beyond that's meaning of "sound furniture", the sound of Sound Furniture softens the space around the people listening to it unintentionally and changes comfortably at a level as if noticing it.
For us who live on a water planet and live with a body made mostly of water, how much memory is associated with water?
By the way, it was wrapped in water before being born in this world.
It might be a good idea to overlay the world of "Tonerium" which makes us learn from such a deep distant memory to vibrant memories on a daily layer.

「水」をテーマに綴るサウンドスケープ
2014年に開催し好評を博した水族館全体を使用したサウンドインスタレーションライブ「Surround Cruise Aquarium」。
その体験から構想し、前作「Rituals」より約一年の期間を経て生まれたサウンドファニチャー三作目のアルバム「TONERIUM（トーンリウム）」。

「水」をテーマに、そこから受けるインスパイア … 流動性、連続性、永遠性、浮遊感、色、風景。
深くしなやかな一つのサウンドスケープとして描く。

重力から解放し、音の海に漂うような体験を時間と空間へ運ぶサウンド。
360度空間を包み込むようなアンサンブルは日常を包み、懐かしくも未知なる世界へ。
あたかも水中を縦横無尽に泳ぐ魚のような感覚へ。
まばゆい光の中、水面に漂う一片の木片になったかのようなゆらぎへと誘う。

僕はこの新譜をアンビエント野外イベントCamp Off-Toneの出演時に藤枝氏から頂き、帰宅する車の中テーマやコンセプトを知る前に帰りの山道をひたすら聴き入った。
十分にアンビエントを体感したOff-Toneの帰りであったが、眠気も疲れも吹っ飛ぶその内容に驚きと刺激を貰い、運転しながら「うゎ〜ヤバこれ」と何度も一人言葉を発し、気が付けば会場であった甲府のキャンプ場からの山道を終え、高速道路へと向かった。
癒しと絶妙な刺激が一体化するこのアルバムのタイトル曲「TONERIUM」は見事な美しさとそれに対照的に頭から延々と続く弦の重低音ループ、24分にも及ぶこのタイトル曲は正に宇宙。
中盤から後半への心地良い雅楽の音像と後から知る事となったテーマでもある水そのものコラボレーションが展開する。そして再びラストに向けて弦楽器がフューチャーされ幕を閉じる。残る4曲はもうそのまま自動的に流れのままに幻想の世界へと引き込まれて行ってしまう。
何ともインテリジェンスなアンビエントを皆さんも体感下さい。

かつてフランスの作曲家エリック・サティが提唱した「家具の音楽」がある。
家具のように、そこにあっても日常生活を妨げず、意識的に聴かれることのない音楽を目指して書かれた曲たちである。
しかし聴衆はこれらの曲に興味を示し、会話をやめて曲に耳を傾けてしまった。
そんなエピソードを思い出す。
Sound Furnitureの音楽も同様、BGMのように穏やかでありながら、
常に聴衆の意識を惹きつけてしまう力がある。
今作のTONERIUMは「水」をテーマに綴るサウンドスケープという通り、
揺らぐ景色を創りだし、かつての記憶を呼び覚ます。
全編にわたって徹底した世界感を貫くこの作品は、
僕らを豊穣な水の異次元にいざなってくれる。

毎年江ノ島で開催されている音楽イベント「Sunset Lounge」のオープニング、Yoga Under The Skyで、もう３度もコラボレーションさせていただいているSound Furniture。
毎回絶妙なタイミングで、絶妙な音を奏で、周りの空間を日常から上質なものへ送り出してくれるその鮮やかな感性と空気感に、身体や心が自然に伸びやかに開いていきます。
その新譜が、水をテーマにしたものだとはまったく知らないまま、先日開催されたオープンエアのヨガでは、完璧な青空の下、芝生の上の空間であったのに、その開放感の中、不思議とずっと水と戯れているように感じていました。
水の底から光る水面を見上げているような、行き交う魚たちを眺めているような、また、気づけば岸辺にいて、打ち寄せる波をゆったりと全身で感じているような。
「音の家具」のその意味以上に、Sound Furnitureの音は、いつの間にか聴く人の周りの空間を柔らかく、それと気づくか気づかないかのようなレベルで心地よく変えてしまう。
水の惑星に生き、その殆どを水でできた身体を持って暮らしている私たちにとって、水にまつわる記憶はどれくらいあるのだろう
そういえば、この世界に生まれる前にも水に包まれていたのだった。
そんな深い遠い記憶から、鮮やかな記憶までを辿らせてくれるような「Tonerium」の世界を、日常のレイヤーに重ねてみてもいいかもしれない。
